In April 2009, amidst the swine flu outbreak, Mikogo was criticized for promoting its software as a form of swine flu prevention. In February 2014 Mikogo Launches Version 5 with Cross-Platform VoIP for Online Meetings Controversial Press In June 2009, Macworld UK posted a review on their website and gave Mikogo an Editor's Choice 4-Star Award, complimenting the software for its cross-platform screen sharing, features and security. The release of the Mac version enabled Mikogo to function as a cross platform screen sharing tool. On March 11, 2009, Mikogo announced the release of its free software for the Mac. Mikogo has received praise for its friendly approach to online meetings as opposed to the corporate look and feel of other web conferencing solutions. However BeamYourScreen was approached by individuals who asked whether a free version of its software was available, for small-time use on an irregular basis and due to these requests made primarily by private users, BeamYourScreen then launched Mikogo as a free online meeting tool. The company then launched a few different online collaboration tools for corporate customers. In 2004, entrepreneurs Erik Boos and Mark Zondler founded BeamYourScreen GmbH (now Snapview GmbH) in Mannheim, Germany. Shame on you Mikogo, for selling a product in this country without any access to technical support. I was given no other option than to drop my subscription and look for another service. When I tried contacting support, I was unable to reach anyone by phone or chat and my emails went unanswered. Recently I purchased a new laptop and when I ran the software from this PC, I could not find any documents to transfer even though they were stored locally on my PC. In those cases, I found I was not always able to transfer mouse and keyboard control and unable to transfer documents. Mikogo ran fairly well for me unless I had a Mac participant. I need to be able to transfer documents via secure file transfer or FTP and the software must be HIPAA compliant.

I also need to be able to transfer control of the mouse and keyboard for remote signature. I never have more than one participant besides myself in the conference. Specifically, I conduct remote enrollment services and need the software to run on any platform (ie. I had been using Mikogo for several years now and most of the time it worked fine for my purposes. Not hard to use but don't look for support
